ECONOMIC IMPACTS
Approximately $5 million/year of new real property taxes are anticipated to be generated from the project
The project will contribute over $530,000 toward school impact fees
Approximately $2.8 million will be paid toward County parks and playground assessment fees
90% of residential owners are anticipated to be part-time owners with limited impacts on schools, parks and other area infrastructure
NEW JOBS
185 new jobs will be added during the construction period.
Once completed the project is anticipated to support 145 new jobs within the project community
AFFORDABLE HOUSING
The project honors Mauiʻs workforce Housing Policy. Funds have been provided for the construction of affordable homes at the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands Waiehu Kou project and also toward the Hale Mahaolu Ehiku affordable senior project in Kihei
NEW COMMUNITY SPACES

Retail village will provide opportunities for local businesses and offer a new gathering space for the Maui Community

Proposed new Mākena Culture and Heritage Center will tell the story of Mākena from the people of Mākena. The stories of this place will be told by the voices of those who lived here, spanning lifestyle transitions including subsistence living, to industry and commerce, and as it continues today as a gathering place. This space will be a place of learning centering the people of Mākena and how they continue to maintain a connection to this place so that people and place may thrive together.
